Weekly Rides & practices

AAVC has always been about developing new riders into the sport. Obviously everyone has to start somewhere- we take riders of all ages and skill levels and try to help them achieve their riding goals within our community. If you are new to riding and do not feel comfortable coming out on one of our group rides your first time, please get in contact with us and we can arrange a one-on-one ride with one of our ride leaders to help you assess your skills, become more comfortable on the roads, etc.

Reminders for all AAVC rides

  • All members MUST wear helmets, and bikes should be in good working order.

  • You are responsible for bringing water and food, and supplies to fix a flat tire or other minor mechanical problems.

  • Members are encouraged to select a group appropriate to their skill and fitness level.

  • Members are encouraged to bring front and back bike lights to every ride

  • Daylight, road construction, weather, and other factors cause changes to the schedule throughout the year. Check on Slack to confirm if a ride is on in questionable weather

  • All riders accept that the risk of injury from participating in group cycling rides is significant, including the potential for permanent paralysis and death. All members have signed a liability release waiver and guests are required to do so before joining in. If you want to join us for one of our club rides, please fill out the club waiver here.

Thursdays at 6pm (Juniors Only)

Junior's Gravel Ride 9, 12, or 16 miles. This is an opportunity for the juniors to develop skills and endurance riding on dirt roads. A gravel or cyclocross bike, mountain bike, or road bike with bigger, grippier tires will work for these rides.

Saturdays at 3pm (Juniors Only)

Every Saturday ride is focused on learning new skills, building on experience we already have, and riding for fun! A road bike is preferred, but any bike will do.

Sundays at 5pm

Cyclocross practice (seasonal, starts in the late summer/early fall)

Weekly rides typically start in mid March and end in late October. Members, always check on Slack to see if a ride is happening in the dates outside that tame frame
